Vorbild
Diesellok BR 118 der Deuschen Reichsbahn in vierachsiger Ausführung mit zwei Zierstreifen.
Die BR 118 der Deutschen Reichsbahn war die größte in der DDR gebaute Diesellok und wurde beim VEB Lokomotivbau „Karl Marx“ in Potsdam-Babelsberg gefertigt.
Die Lok wurde mit der Achsfolge B’B’ entwickelt, um bei der DR die veralteten Dampflokomotiven zu ersetzen. Nach einigen Vorserienloks erfolgte in den Jahren 1963 -1965 die Serienproduktion.
Die Loks erhielten zwei Zwölfzylinder-Dieselmotoren von je 900 PS.
Die BR 118 wurde universell eingesetzt und beförderte sowohl Schnellzüge als auch schwere Güterzüge. 1995 schieden die letzten Exemplare aus dem Betriebsdienst der DB AG.
Bei einigen Privatbahnen sind die robusten Lokomotiven bis heute im Einsatz.

Prototype
Diesel locomotive BR 118 of the Deuschen Reichsbahn (German State Railway) in the four-axle version with two decorative stripes.
The BR 118 of the German Reichsbahn was the largest diesel locomotive built in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) and was manufactured by the VEB locomotive works "Karl Marx" in Potsdam-Babelsberg, East Germany.
The locomotive was developed with the axle arrangement B'B' in order to replace the outdated steam locomotives at DR. After a few pre-series locomotives, series production began in 1963-1965.
The locomotives were equipped with two twelve-cylinder diesel engines of 900 hp each.
The BR 118 was used universally and operated in both express train and heavy freight train service. The last units left operational service of the Deutsche Bahn AG in 1995.
The robust locomotives are still in use today on some private railways.
