Am Ende des 19. Jahrhundert wurden viele Eisenbahnen gebaut. Dort wo die Normalspur nicht gebaut werden konnte, verlegte man oft schmalspurige Strecken.
Um Güter zu einem Kunden zu bringen, mussten Güter oft umgeladen werden - von Normalspur auf Schmalspur und zurück. Um dieses aufwendige Umladen zu vermeiden, wurden normalspurige Waggons oft auf sogenannte "Rollböcke" gesetzt.
Das Aufbocken wurde in einer "Rollbockgrube" durchgeführt. In dieser Grube wurden Rollböcke unter die Normalspur-achsen montiert. Einmal fest, fuhr man die Waggons aus der Grube und sie gingen dann weiter zum Kunden.
Solche Rollbockgruben fand man überall. So auch im Harz, bei der Nordhausen Wernigerode Eisenbahn (NWE). Da die Eisenbahn durch das Harzgebirge führte, wurde die Strecke als Schmalspurbahn verlegt.
Die NWE baute zwei Rollbockgruben. Eine in Wernigerode und eine in Nordhausen. Die Schmalspurbahnen im Harz sind mittlerweile privatisiert als Harzer Schmalspurbahnen(HSB).
Die Rollbockgrube in Wernigerode wurde 2004 abgerissen. Die Rollbockgrube von 1897 in Nordhause existiert noch, wird aber nicht mehr benutzt.
1998 nahm die HSB eine neue Rollbockgrube in Nordhausen in Betrieb. Diese Grube ist immer noch betriebsfähig.
Modell
Mit dieser Rollbockgrube können Sie das auf- und abbocken normalspuriger Güterwagen voll automatisch im Modell erleben.
Die Rollbockgrube ist 60 cm lang. Das Gleisprofil und die Gleishöhe (auf der Schmalspurseite) sind das Gleiche wie von z.b. Train Line 45 und LGB®. Die Rollbockgrube kann dadurch ohne weitere Anpassungen verlegt werden.
Die Grube bietet Platz für vier Rollböcke (wie z.b. Modelbouw Boerman Nr. 0005-0101). Die Rollbockgrube ist mit allem Nötigen versehen um das auf- und abbocken der Normalspurwagen (wie zb. Modelbouw Boerman Nr. 0006-0001) automatisch ablaufen zu lassen.
Die Rollbockgrube ist verlängerbar um jeweils 30 cm mittels Modelbouw Boerman Nr. 0005-0002.

Prototype
Many railroads were built at the end of the 19th century. Where standard gauge could not be built, narrow gauge tracks were often used.
In order to bring goods to a customer, goods often had to be transhipped - from standard gauge to narrow gauge and back again. In order to avoid this costly reloading, standard gauge wagons were often placed on so-called “Carrier Trucks”.
Lifting cars up was done in a “Carrier Truck Pit”. In this pit the carrier trucks were mounted under the standard gauge axles. Once attached, the cars were driven out of the pit and they went on to the customer.
Such carrier truck pits were found everywhere. Therefore also in the Harz (Germany), at the Nordhausen Wernigerode Railway (NWE). Since the railway led through the Harz Mountains, the route was constructed as a narrow-gauge railway.
The NWE built two carrier truck pits, one in Wernigerode and one in Nordhausen. The narrow gauge railways in the Harz are now privatized as the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways (HSB).
The carrier truck pit in Wernigerode was demolished in 2004. The carrier truck pit from 1897 in Nordhause still exists, but is no longer used.
In 1998, HSB commissioned a new carrier truck pit in Nordhausen. This pit is still operational.
Model
With this carrier truck pit, you can fully automatically experience the raising and lowering of standard-gauge freight cars with this model.
The carrier truck pit is 60 cm (23 5/8 inches) long. The track profile and rail height (on the narrow gauge portion) are the same as those of Train Line 45 and LGB®, ie code 332. The carrier truck pit can be incorporated into the layout without requiring any further adjustments or adaptation.
The pit can accommodate four carrier trucks (such as Modelbouw Boerman # 0005-0101). The carrier truck pit is equipped with everything necessary to automatically raise or lower a standard-gauge freight car (such as Modelbouw Boerman No. 0006-0001) onto the carrier trucks.
The carrier truck pit is extendable in 30 cm (11 13/16 inch) sections by means of Modelbouw Boerman No. 0005-0002.
