Prototype:
For decades, the mallets were the most important locomotives in the roster of the narrow-gauge railways of the Harz. This locomotive was delivered in 1898 (as NWE 14) by the firm Jung of Jungental, Germany. In 1927, the locomotive was renumbered to NWE 12. This locomotive still exists today and is the property of the Harz narrow gauge railways. This locomotive can still be placed in service and often pulls the Oldtimer train. In 1949, the locomotive as transferred from the NWE to the Deutsche Reichsbahn (German State Railroad). In 1993, the locomotive 99 5902 became the property of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways. Since 2007, the locomotive livery is green, black and red.

Model:
Modified and detailed by Modelbouw Boerman of the Netherlands.
Train Line 45 developed a model of HSB Mallet in 2013. This successful and true-to-scale model is the basis for our product. Many refinements have been added to convert the HSB 99 5901 into a real HSB 99 5902. This is the result. All changes were installed by hand. This gives the locomotive a very high quality finish.

Technology:
For this Mallet we optionally offer either an ESU LokSound XL 4.0 decoder or a Zimo MX696S decoder with Däppen sound. These are installed at the factory. These two decoders are technically almost identical. The customer decides which one they wish to have installed..

The locomotive includes the following:
ESU LokSound XL 4.0 decoder
or
ZIMO MX696S decoder with Däppen sound
Dark drivetrain
Many extra features like separately mounted pipes on the boiler
Headlights that change with the direction of travel
Cab lighting
Drivetrain lights
Pulsed smoke unit
