English
Narrow Gauge Class “C” Three Truck Climax.
Prototype:
The Climax had been ordered by the Colorado and Northwestern, Boulder, Colorado in 1897 as a narrow gauge locomotive. C&N #2 was the heaviest Climax and at that time the only narrow gauge three truck version ever built.
In 1899 the locomotive was moved to Skagway, Alaska as Pacific Contract Company #8. In 1901, it became #8 for the White Pass & Yukon (later #58), where she was used to build that railroad. Sold for $3,000, the narrow gauge Climax came to Seattle, Washington's W. D. Hofius Company in June 1902. The following year, in 1903, it was re-gauged to standard gauge and converted to two truck for the White Star Lumber Company, Whites, Washington. Later, it was operated by the Maytown Lumber Company, Maytown, Washington.
Model:
Aster reproduced the locomotive in two versions, electric and live steam. Both versions are made of brass.
