This model of a condensing steam locomotive of the Argentinian State Railway was produced in a limited production run of one hundred pieces in 1981 by the Model Company Christian Höhne exclusively for E. P. Lehmann of Nuremberg, Germany.
Prototype:
Henschel condensing steam locomotive Estado 8006 of the Sistema Argentino Railroad of 1037.
Condensing steam locomotives is a promising development in locomotive design especially useful for arid stretches of railroad. These highly advance engines are found in service specifically in South Africa and in South America. Not only is the water consumption reduced, but the fuel consumption is also considerably less than that of a regular steam locomotive.
The development of the condensing steam locomotive was supported largely by the company of Henschel & Son, and by Professor Dr. Roosen.
