Das berühmte “Kleine Krokodil” der Rhätischen Bahn wird noch heute vor Sonderzügen eingesetzt, so auch dem Alpine Classic Pullman Express. Als 1978 das erste LGB-Krokodil vorstellt wurde, wurde das Modell mit Preisen für seine vorbildgetreue Detaillierung und seine moderne Technik ausgezeichnet. Über die Jahre hat LGB das Krokodil immer weiter verfeinert. Dieses Modell wurde von der Nürnberger Firma Warenburg aus existierenden LGB Ersatzteilen zusammengebaut und bietet die klassischen Merkmale des Originals mit der modernsten Technologie von Lehmann. Dazu gehört ein digitaler Sound und ein Mehrzugsystem-Decoder onboard.
Der Sound bietet die echten Geräusche einer Vorbildlok mit Motor, Pfeife, Hauptschalter, Luftpumpe, Hauptgebläse, Vakuumpumpe und Bremsen. Weitere Geräusche -- darunter die Ansage des Schaffners “Treten Sie bitte zurück, die Türen gehen zu. Achtung, der Zug fährt ab.” -- lassen sich mit dem Mehrzugsystem auslösen.
Vor allem jedoch verfügt das Modell nach wie vor über die besten Merkmale des Originals, darunter auch die beiden gelenkig aufgehängten Getriebeeinheiten, die für eine außergewöhnliche Zugkraft sorgen. Das Modell ist in der vorbildgetreuen “mokkabraunen” Farbgebung des Originals lackiert.
Vorbild
Der bekannteste Loktyp der Rhätischen Bahn ist das "Krokodil" Ge 6/6, von dem in den 1920er Jahren 15 Stück gebaut wurden. Mit 1067 PS Dauerleistung bewährten sich die Lokomotiven vor Güter- und Personenzügen auf den steilen Strecken der Schweizer Alpen. Heute noch werden einige Krokodile vor Sonderzügen eingesetzt, z. B. dem "Alpine Classic Pullman Express".
Modell
Dieses detaillierte und wetterfeste Modell wurden weitgehendst aus original LGB Ersatzteile zusammengebaut, nur das Zentralgewicht und die beiden Führerstandsimitationen wurden neu gegossen. Bei den beiden Fronten wurden die LGB Gewichte von LGB 2062 verbaut. Dieses Modell gab es mit Loknummern 412 und 413.

The Rhätische Bahn “Baby Crocodile” still hauls special trains today, for example, the famous Alpine Classic Pullman Express. When LGB first introduced the Crocodile in 1978, the innovative model won awards for its authentic detailing and advanced engineering. But LGB never stopped improving their Crocodile, this version was constructed by the Nurnberg firm Warenburg using authentic LGB replacement parts and offers the classic features of the original with even more advanced Lehmann technology, including a digital electronic sound system and an onboard Multi-Train System decoder.
The sound system automatically replicates motor, whistle, main switch, air pump, main fan, vacuum pump and brake sounds of the prototype locomotive. Additional sounds -- including the departure call of the conductor, “Treten Sie bitte zurück, die Türen gehen zu. Achtung, der Zug fährt ab.” -- are accessible using the LGB Multi-Train System. Yet this model still has the best features of the original, including twin, articulated, powered gearboxes for pulling heavy loads. This version also offers the authentic “moccabraun” livery of the real RhB Baby Crocodile.
The Prototype
The most famous locomotive of the RhB is the Ge 6/6 "Baby Crocodile," of which 15 were built during the 1920s. With a sustained power rating of 1067 horsepower, for many years, these locomotives hauled the heaviest freight and passenger trains on the steep lines in the Swiss Alps. Several of these classic locomotives remain in service and can be enjoyed in front of special trains, for example, the "Alpine Classic Pullman Express."
The Model
This detailed and weather resistant model was assembled from mostly original LGB parts, only the weight in the centre and the two cab imitations were new castings. For the weights in the two front sections, weights of the LGB 2062 were used. This model was manufactured as running number 412 and 413.
