AB 3 Triebwagen (Rail car)
Description: English below

Vorbild:

Prototype:
Railcar AB 3, built by the firm Carminati & Toselli of Milan, Italy, restoration completed on July 21st, 2012. Was in service at the line Rimini - San Marino.
The first one of these cars travelled on a leg of that rail line 80 years ago, on June 12th, 1932.
The service life of that line was rather short because it was partly damaged by a bombardment on June 26th 1944; the last rail car travelled there on July 4th, 1944 with a train carrying evacuees from Rimini.
The rail line was completely dismantled between 1958 and 1960 to make way for the expressway that connects Rimini.

Model
The model was built in collaboration of two modelers one from Rimini and one from Novara.
The first one produced the main body using Forex plastic sheets cut with a CNC mill. The frame also uses Fores sheets reinforced with aluminum inserts.
Cover plates of the carriages are manufactured using resin.
The pantographs are faithful reproductions of the prototype, built using brass and copper tubing.
Two motorized bogies guarantee good pulling power and manoeuvrability on all types of curves including R1.

Italiano
