Vorbild -
Nachdem eine G 4/5 Lok, die für die Eisenbahn von Äthiopien bestimmt ist, auf der Linie Albula getestet worden ist, hat die RhB 29 von diesen Maschinen bestellt, Nummer 101 bis 129.
Die ersten vier mit den Nummern 101 bis 104 wurden 1904 ausgeliefert. Der Hersteller war die Schweizerischen Lokomotiv- und Machinenfabrik (SLM) in Winterthur.

Prototype -
After a G 4/5 steam locomotive, intended for a railway in Ethiopia, was tested on the Albula line, the RhB ordered 29 of these locomotives, numbered 101 to 129.
The first four of those, number 101 to 104 were delivered in 1904. The manufacturer was the Swiss Locomotive and Machine works (SLM) in Winterthur, Switzerland.
