Als auf den Schmalspurstrecken der Österreichischen Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) neue, zugstarke Lokomotiven benötigt wurden, bestellte die ÖBB von 1958 bis 1962 15 dieser 600 PS starken Dieselloks. Die Kraft des 12-Zylinder-Dieselmotors wird über ein hydraulisches Getriebe auf jeweils eine der Achsen in den Drehgestellen übertragen, während die zweite Achse über Kuppelstangen verbunden ist. Seit mehr als 40 Jahren fahren die Loks auf verschiedenen Schmalspurbahnen in Österreich, darunter die Mariazellerbahn und die Strecken von Zell am See nach Krimml und auf der Ybbstalbahn, wo das Vorbild des LGB-Modells mit der Nummer 2095 004-4 verkehrt.

When new, powerful locos were required by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), 15 of these 600 hp diesels were ordered between 1958 and 1962. The power of the 12-cylinder diesel motor is transmitted via a hydraulic transmission to one of the axles in the bogies, while the second axle is connected via coupling rods. For more than 40 years, these locos have been in service with various narrow gauge railways in Austria, including the Mariazeller Railway and the routes of Zell am See to Krimml and the Ybbstalbahn where the prototype of the LGB model with the running number 2095 004-4 is in operation.
