Vorbild:
Der 470 PS starke Dieseltriebwagen T3 wurde 1938 in Dienst gestellt, zusammen mit dem Triebwagen T2 und drei Jahre nach dem ersten Einsatz des Triebwagens T1. Alle drei bildeten damals den technischen Höchststand auf dem Gebiet des Triebwagenbaus. Die T2 und T3 Triebwagen hatten keine Fahrgastplätze mehr, waren also Gepäcktriebwagen (aucvh als Schlepptriebwagen bezeichnet) und dadurch in ihrer Funktion nach Lokomotiven. Der T3 Triebwagen konnte ein Anhängerlast von bis zu vier Personenwagen befördern.
Dieser Triebwagen versah seinen Dienst bis Ende der 1970er Jahre. Dann mußte er abgestellt werden, weil der Hochdruckkompressor ausfiel.
In den 90er Jahren wurde der Triebwagen von der Firma MaLoWa in Benndorf restauriert und seit 1999 steht der in Wernigerode beheimatete T3 wieder voll zur Verfügung.
Der Triebwagen wird heute nicht zu Planfahrten eingesetzt sondern nur zu Sonderfahrten für welche er gechartert werden kann.

The 470-horsepower diesel rail car T3 was placed into service in 1938, together with the motor coach T2 and three years after the initial service of railcar T1. All three were then at the highest technical level in the field of rail car design. The T2 and T3 railcars no longer provided an passenger accomodations and were thus "baggage-only" railcars and thus essentially provided the function of a locomotive. The T3 rail car could pull up to four passenger cars.
This motor coach was in service until the late 1970s. It then had to be taken out of service due to the failure of a high pressure compressor.
In the 90's the rail car was restored by the company MaLoWa in Benndorf, Germany and since 1999, this rail car now based in Wernigerode, Germany, is back in service again.
The railcar is not used for scheduled service, only for special excursions for which it can be chartered.
