Generationen von Feriengästen auf Rügen haben diese Inselbahn-Loks im Einsatz gesehen. Ein Eisenbahn-Liebhaber bewahrte zwei der Loks vor dem Schneidbrenner und baute aus den Teilen eine funktionsfähige Lok, die "NICKI + FRANK S." Heute fährt die restaurierte Lok vor Sonderzügen des "Rasenden Rolands" auf den Rügenschen Kleinbahnen. Mit jeweils einem Motor in der Lok und im Tender ist das LGB-Modell außerordentlich zugstark. Öffnen Sie die Türen zum beleuchteten Führerstand, wo Sie den Lokführer und die vielen Armaturen, Ventile und Hebel sehen, die detailgetreu nachgebildet sind. Doch schon pfeift der Schaffner, und der Zug setzt sich in Bewegung.
Vorbild
Eine Reihe von Heeresfeldbahn-Lokomotiven versahen nach Ende des 2. Weltkriegs auf den Schmalspurstrecken der Deutschen Reichsbahn ihren friedlichen Dienst. Die Vorbildlok kam mit zwei Schwestern zu den Jüterborg-Luckenwalder-Kreiskleinbahnen südlich von Berlin. Nach der Stillegung dieser Bahn gelangten sie 1966 auf die Ostseeinsel Rügen. Später rettete ein Eisenbahnfan zwei der drei Loks, die “Nicki S.” und die “Frank S.”, vor der Verschrottung und stellte sie auf einer Museumseisenbahn erneut in Dienst. 1992 wurden die beiden Loks in den Werkstätten der Deutschen Reichsbahn in Görlitz überholt. Die Bauteile der beiden Loks wurden kombiniert, um eine betriebsfähige Lok zu schaffen, die “Nicki und Frank S.” Mit den übrigen Teilen wurde eine originalgetreue Heeresfeldbahnlok als Ausstellungsmodell gebaut.

For generations, vacationers have seen these locos in service on Rügen Island in the Baltic Sea. The locos were originally part of the Heeresfeldbahn (army field railway), but were transferred to various civilian lines in Germany after World War II. Later, when they were set to be scrapped, two of these locos were rescued by a railfan and converted into one new loco, named "NICKI + FRANK S." On special occasions, the restored loco can still be seen on Rügen Island, where it pulls a train lightheartedly known as the "Racing Roland. "With two motors, one in the engine and one in the tender, this LGB model has plenty of power. Open the doors to the illuminated cab, and you´ll find a detailed backhead, complete with valves and gauges, and an engineer. He´s waiting to take you to your vacation destination.
The Prototype
After World War II, a number of locomotives from the Heeresfeldbahn (military field railway) were peacefully employed on various narrow gauge railways in East Germany. The prototype of this model was one of three locos of this type operating on a small line south of Berlin. After this railway was abandoned, the locos went to the Baltic island of Rügen, where numerous tourists rode on trains behind these charming machines. When they were due to be scrapped, two of the locos, the "Nicki S." and the "Frank S.", were rescued by a railfan and operated on a tourist railway. In 1992, the locos were overhauled at the DR (Deutsche Reichsbahn) shops in Görlitz. Parts from the two locos were combined to make one working loco, the "Nicki + Frank S." The remaining parts were assembled into a display loco.
