Das Vorbild dieser Schmalspurdiesellok war viele Jahre Zuglok des "Vulkan-Express" auf der meterspurigen Brohtalbahn (BEG), die vom Rhein in die Eifel führt. 1986 wurde die Lok dort aus dem Betriebsdienst genommen und an die Rhätische Bahn (RhB) in die Schweiz verkauft. Die mit zwei 270 PS starken Motoren ausgerüstete Maschine erhielt zunächst eine komplette technische Überholung. Gleichzeitig wurde sie in den aktuellen Farben der RhB lackiert und als Gm4/4 241 in den Fuhrpark der Rhätischen Bahn eingereiht. Die Lokomotive wird hauptsächlich im Rangierdienst auf den Bahnhöfen Untervaz und Landquart eingesetzt.
Das LGB-Modell ist eine vorbildgetreue Nachbildung der Gm4/4 241 der RhB. Ausgestattet mit zwei Bühlermotoren verfügt die Lok über eine aussergewöhnliche Zugkraft. Eine in Fahrtrichtung wechselnde Stirnbeleuchtung sowie die Nachbildung des Führerstandes der Lok sind weitere Ausstattungsmerkmale. Zusätzlich verfügt das Modell über den typischen Dieselloksound. Dazu gehören das Anlassen des Dieselmotors, ein stufenweise synchronisiertes Motorengeräusch, Hilfsdieselmotor, Luftkompressor, Sicherheitsventil, Signalhorn, Glocke und das "Nageln" des Dieselmotors im Leerlauf. Mit dem LGB-Mehrzugsystem (MZS) können Sie weitere Geräusche fernbedient auslösen. Mit diesem neuen Modell steht den LGB-Freunden ein weiteres Triebfahrzeug nach dem Vorbild der RhB zur Verfügung.

This narrow-gauge diesel locomotive served for many years on the “Vulkan-Express” of the meter-gauge Brohtalbahn (BEG), running from the Rhine into the Eifel Mountains. However, in 1986, the loco was sold to Switzerland’s Rhätische Bahn (RhB). At the RhB, the loco -- and its twin 270 horsepower motors -- received a complete overhaul and was repainted in the livery of the Rhätische Bahn. It was added to the railway’s roster as Gm 4/4 number 241 and put into service, primarily as a switcher at the Untervaz and Landquart stations.
The LGB model is a faithful reproduction of number 241 and is equipped with twin Bühler motors for exceptional pulling power. It features directional lanterns on the exterior and a furnished cab inside. Plus, the model reproduces the real sounds of a diesel locomotive, including diesel starting sounds and synchronized motor sounds along with auxiliary motor, air compressor, relief valve, horn, bell and no-load “nailing” sounds. Plus, with the LGB Multi-Train System, you can control the loco’s sounds by remote control. It’s another great addition to the LGB RhB roster!
