Lokomotiven der Bauart Forney waren im ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert auf vielen amerikanischen Kleinbahnen im Einsatz. Die extrem laufruhigen Loks konnten in beiden Richtungen fahren, was den Betrieb vereinfachte und Drehscheiben überflüssig machte.
Locomotives of the type Forney were in service with many American railroads at the end of the 19th century. These extremely smooth and quiet runners could operate in either direction which simplified the railroad operation and eliminated the necessity of turntables.
