RhB Dampflok (Steam locomotive) G 4/5 108
Description: English below

Vorbild -

Prototype -
After a G4/5 steam locomotive, intended for a railway in Ethiopia, was tested on the Albula line, the RhB ordered 29 of these locomotives, numbered 101 to 129.
These were delivered between 1904 and 1915. The manufacturer was the Swiss Locomotive and Machine works (SLM) in Winterthur, Switzerland.
Due to the lack of coal during World War I, the RhB electrified its lines step by step between 1918 and 1922. Of the 57 steam locomotives and two steam-powered rotary snowplows the company had acquired in 1916, 46 were sold in the next ten years. Some steam locomotives were kept in reserve until the end of the seventies, after which they were replaced by diesel locomotives.
Of the steam locomotives type G4/5, only two locomotives remain, the number 107 and 108. These are used today to pull historic excursion trains.
Prototype dimensions:
Length over buffers: 13970 mm
Width: 2550 mm
Wheelbase, total: 6100 mm
Wheelbase of fixed axles: 2450 mm
Wheelbase of tender: 2475 mm
Driving wheel: 1050 mm diameter
Guide wheel: 700 mm diameter

Model -
The model crafted by Magnus uses the proper source material where possible, steel, wood and coal. The model is very well detailed.
The model includes a smoke generator which is activated by a switch on the straight flange of the locomotive.
The four driving axles and the weight of the locomotive of about 22 pounds, give that model extraordinary pulling power.
The smallest radius this model can negotiate is LGB R3.
