Das erklärt auch, weshalb gerade Kesselwagen oft so farbenfroh lackiert sind: Die Firmen nutzen die Waggons zielgerichtet zur Anbringung von Eigenwerbung. Leuna gehörte in Deutschland von Anfang an zu den Firmen, die eigene Kesselwagen unterhielten. Das LGB-Modell gibt einen derartigen Wagen vorbildgetreu wieder. Der Kessel lässt sich befüllen und entleeren. Das Fahrzeug ist mit Metallradsätzen ausgerüstet.

Many oil companies have their own fleets of tank cars, which are then hauled by the railroads. Since they own the cars, the oil companies can use them for advertising, and from the early days, Germany’s Leuna did just that.
