Ende der 80er konnte die RhB noch nicht auf die mittler- weile fast 40 Jahre alten Loks der Baureihe Ge 4/4 I ver- zichten. Da absehbar war, dass diese noch länger im Einsatz bleiben würden, wurden die Loks modernisiert. Es wurde eine Vielfachsteuerung eingebaut und weitere technische Verbesserungen durchgeführt, aber am auf- fälligsten waren die neuen Führerstände mit den zwei großen Fenstern. Wenn auch ein Teil der Loks bereits verschrottet wurde, stehen immer noch einige der teil- weise über 70 Jahre alten Loks im Einsatz.

At the end of the 1980s, the RhB could not yet do without the Ge 4/4 I locomotives, which were almost 40 years old. Since it was foreseeable that these would remain in service for even longer, the locomotives were modernized. A multiple control system was installed and other technical improvements were made, but the most noticeable were the new cabs with the two large windows. Although some of the locomotives have already been scrapped, some of them are still in service, some of them over 70 years old. |
