Le grand jour approche: Dans le cadre des festivités liées aux 175 ans des chemins de fer suisses, les chemins de fer rhétiques (RhB) tenteront officiellement, le samedi 29 octobre 2022, de faire rouler le plus long train voyageurs du monde. Le train de 1910 mètres de long, composé de 100 voitures, doit circuler sur la ligne Albula/Bernina inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO, entre Preda et Bergün et continuer sur le viaduc de Landwasser. Les tests correspondants, quant à la faisabilité technique et à la garantie de la sécurité, ont été faits ces derniers mois. Le plus long train voyageurs du monde doit se composer de 25 rames automotrices à unités multiples du tout nouveau type « Capricorn ». Celles-ci devraient être fournies aux RhB d‘ici 2024 dans le cadre de la plus grosse acquisition de matériel roulant de leur histoire et donneront aux chemins de fer des Grisons une grande impulsion de modernisation. Cette tentative - à condition qu‘elle soit couronnée de succès - devrait être inscrite dans le Guinness Book

The attempt is going to happen: As part of the 175th anniversary celebrations of Swiss railroading the Rhaetian Railroad (RhB) is undertaking on Saturday, October 29, 2022 the official attempt to run
the longest passenger train in the world. The 1,910 meter / 6,207 foot
6 inch long train with 100 cars is to roll on the UNESCO Albula/Bernina World Heritage Line from Preda to Bergün and further across the Landwasser Viaduct. Appropriate tests for technical feasibility and to ensure safety took place in the past months. The longest passenger train in the world is to be composed of 25 auxiliary powered rail car trains of the newest type “Capricorn“. These are being acquired by 2024 as part of the largest purchase of rolling stock in the history of the RhB and they are giving the Grisons railroad a big push in modernization. The record attempt – provided it is successful – is to be entered in the Guinness Book of Records.
