Der Versuch rollt an: Im Rahmen der 175-Jahr-Feierlichkeiten der Schweizer Bahnen unternimmt die Rhätische Bahn (RhB) am Samstag, 29. Oktober 2022, den offiziellen Versuch, den längsten Reisezug der Welt fahren zu lassen. Der 1910 Meter lange Zug mit 100 Wagen soll auf der UNESCO Welterbestrecke Albula/Bernina von Preda bis Bergün und weiter über den Landwasserviadukt rollen. Die entsprechenden Tests zur technischen Machbarkeit und Gewährleistung der Sicherheit haben in den vergangenen Monaten stattgefunden
Der längste Reisezug der Welt soll sich aus 25 Flügeltriebzügen des neuesten Typs «Capricorn» zusammensetzen. Diese werden im Zuge der grössten Rollmaterialbeschaffung ihrer Geschichte von der RhB bis 2024 erworben und der Bündner Bahn einen grossen Modernisierungs- schub verleihen. Der Rekordversuch – vorausgesetzt, er ist erfolgreich – soll im Guinness-Buch der Rekorde eingetragen werden.

The attempt is going to happen: As part of the 175th anniversary celebrations of Swiss railroading the Rhaetian Railroad (RhB) is undertaking on Saturday, October 29, 2022 the official attempt to run
the longest passenger train in the world. The 1,910 meter / 6,207 foot
6 inch long train with 100 cars is to roll on the UNESCO Albula/Bernina World Heritage Line from Preda to Bergün and further across the Landwasser Viaduct. Appropriate tests for technical feasibility and to ensure safety took place in the past months. The longest passenger train in the world is to be composed of 25 auxiliary powered rail car trains of the newest type “Capricorn“. These are being acquired by 2024 as part of the largest purchase of rolling stock in the history of the RhB and they are giving the Grisons railroad a big push in modernization. The record attempt – provided it is successful – is to be entered in the Guinness Book of Records.
