Die Colorado & Southern betrieb die Strecken der Denver, South Park & Pacific Railroad zu den Silberbergwerken der Rocky Mountains. Der Silberrausch war lange vorbei, doch bis 1943 transportierte die Bahn verschiedene Erze, Vieh, Fahrgäste und Post. Die alten Moguls wurden modernisiert, da für neue Lokomotiven das Geld fehlte. Mit dem LGB-Modell der Mogul No. 4 fährt Ihr Zug durch die wilde Berglandschaft Colorados, wobei Sie den digitalen Sound einer echten Dampflok hören. Der Zug fährt vorbei an verlassenen Bergwerken, über den Boreas Pass, um in Leadville unweit des verblichenen Clarendon Hotels zu halten. Die Zeiten, als hier Evelyn Walsh McLean den Hope-Diamanten zum Dinner trug, sind vorbei, doch hat die Reise auf der Colorado & Southern nichts an Abenteuer eingebüßt.

Die Mogul ist ein Klassiker unter den amerikanischen Lokomotiven. In der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts wurden mehr als 10.000 dieser vielseitigen Loks gebaut. Moguls verkehrten auf fast allen Bahnlinien Nordamerikas im Personen- und im Güterverkehr. Der Name "Mogul" beschreibt die Achsfolge "2-6-0" (1'C) der Lok: Zwei Vorlaufräder, sechs große Treibräder und keine Nachlaufräder.

The Colorado & Southern operated the lines of the Denver, South Park & Pacific RR to the silver mines of the Rocky Mountains. The silver boom was a distant memory, but the railroad hauled various ores, livestock, passengers and mail until 1943. The old Moguls were modernized, because there was no money for new equipment. This LGB model of Mogul No. 4 hauls your train through the vast Colorado mountains while you enjoy the recorded digital sounds of a real steam locomotive. The train rolls past abandoned mines, across Boreas Pass and stops in Leadville not far from the faded glory of the Clarendon Hotel. The days when Evelyn Walsh McLean wore the Hope diamond for dinner here are long gone, but the trip on the Colorado & Southern remains an adventure.

The Mogul locomotive is an American classic.
During the late 1800s and early 1900s, more than 10,000 of these versatile locos were built for freight and passenger serv-ice throughout North America. The term "Mogul" refers to the "2-6-0"wheel configuration of these locos: two small guide wheels followed by six big driving wheels and no trailing wheels.
